ICAI CA Result May 2024 Analysis: Pass Percentage Spikes Under New Scheme, over 20,000 qualify as CA
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) announced the CA May 2024 results for Final and Intermediate on July 11. The results were announced online on the official portal of the institute, icai.nic.in. This CA May 2024 exams were the first to be held under the new CA scheme of education and training announced by the institute in the year 2022. The CA syllabus and question patterns were revised in some of the sections.
Compared to previous years, the CA results have been improved under the new scheme of education. The pass percentage rose significantly, resulting in the country getting over 20,000 new Chartered Accountants this session. In comparison, the previous session saw only 8,650 candidates qualifying as Chartered Accountants.
A total of 74,487 candidates appeared in Group 1 of CA Final May 2024 exam whereas, 58,891 candidates took the Group 2 exams. Pass percentages in these groups were 27.35% and 36.35% respectively. This is a significant increase from the previous session where only 9.46% of candidates in Group 1 and 21.6% in Group 2 cleared exams.
The CA Final pass percentage also improved for candidates who appeared in both groups. It rose from 9.42% to 19.88% compared to the previous session.

A similar jump in pass percentage can also be seen in the CA Intermediate results May 2024. The exams were held under the new scheme of education and training. CA Intermediate which is the second stage of CA programme too had a low pass percentage in previous years.
Group 1 for CA Intermediate saw 1.17 lakh candidates appearing in the exam of which 27.15% of candidates qualified. In comparison, only 16.78% of candidates passed the Group 1 exams in the last session.
While the CA Intermediate Group 2 pass percentage declined slightly from 19.18% to 18.28%, the pass percentage for candidates who appeared in both groups doubled from the previous exam.

No you cannot apply after the final date of registration. Unless the officials extend the last date you will not be eligible for applying after the final date of registration. As of now there are no information from the officials regarding the extension of the final date. The Institute
